Math
We are continuing work on fluency in Multiplication facts (0-10), working on fractions on a number line along with equivalent fractions.
Writing
We have finished the
first part of the PARCC testing and will complete the second part of PARCC in
approximately 3 weeks. We will continue to work on our language and writing
skills in class. We will be working on opinion and persuasive writing. Students
will be sharing their views on topics like favorite cereal, Frida Kahlo and The
Cricket in Times Square.
Reading
We are finishing our novel
reading this week. The students have had a lot of fun with many activities we
have done. Next week we will be working on different genres in writing:
realistic fiction, autobiography, fiction, mystery, biography, folktale, poetry
and fantasy. Please make sure your child shares with you the many genres they
will be learning about.

a school we are reading the book The Cricket in Times Square. The entire
school is reading this book even the ladies in the lunch room. Be sure to check
in with your child about where they are in the book. Our end date for this read
aloud is May 21.
