Perimeter & Area......Below you will find 2 videos from Brainpop Jr. explaining what PERIMETER & AREA are for our math skill 3.MD.8 (Find the perimeter - distance around a figure) and 3.MD.6 (Find the space inside a figure using square units). Your child will need to use their login information for Brainpop Jr. that I gave them! Have fun!!

PERIMETER video:

Perimeter

Perimeter is the outline or distance around something. In this movie, you’ll learn how to find the perimeters of objects by using measurement and addition. A shape or figure’s perimeter is found by measuring the length of each side and adding the lengths together. When you add many numbers together, you create longer number sentences.

AREA video:

Area

Area is the measurement of the space inside a shape. In this movie, you will learn how to find the area of different shapes by counting square units inside them. You'll also learn how to calculate the area of squares and rectangles by multiplying length times width.
